Standard Racial Traits

  • Ability Score Racial Traits: Bangaa are hardy and strong, but are often characterized as lacking in brains. Bangaa have a +2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence and -2 Wisdom.
  • Size: Bangaa are Medium creatures and thus receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
  • Type: Bangaa are Humanoids with the Reptilian subtype.
  • Base Speed: Bangaa have a base speed of 30ft.
  • Languages: Bangaa begin play speaking Common and Banganese. Bangaa with high Intelligence scores can choose any languages they want (except secret languages, such as Druidic). See the Linguistics skill page for more information about these languages.

Defense Racial Traits

  • Lizard Hide: A bangaa’s tough hide grants a +1 racial bonus to natural armor.
  • Banganese Heritage: The reptilian form of the Bangaa serve to better protect them against common ailments with their unrelenting vitality. A Bangaa gains a +2 racial bonus to saves against poisons, afflictions that count as poisons, the poisoned condition, sickened condition, and nauseated condition.

Feat and Skill Racial Traits

  • Tough as Scales: Bangaa are famously robust and extremely difficult to take down. All bangaa gain Toughness as a bonus feat.
  • Desert Dwellers: Bangaa often reside in deserts or areas of extreme heat and humidity. Bangaa gain a +4 bonus on Survival checks when navigating deserts and searching for resources (such as water and food) in deserts. This bonus is also applied to saves and checks against extreme heat.

Offensive Racial Traits

  • Unarmed Confidence: Most Bangaa are taught to be confident in their own bodies. This cultural confidence does not rule out the use of weapons, but teaches them to be able to use their own bodies. Bangaa are never considered "unarmed" when not holding a weapon. A Bangaa still threatens with his unarmed strikes and never provokes when using an unarmed strike.
  • Natural Pikeman: Ancient Bangaan tribesman often used spears to hunt for sustenance. Bangaa are proficient in all simple and martial weapons from the Spear weapon group.

Senses and Skill Racial Traits

  • Keen Senses: Bangaa gain a +2 bonus to Perception checks.

Weakness Racial Traits

  • Water Weakness: Bangaa have no primordial fear of water but the power of water has long been able to pierce through their hides with ease. Bangaa take an additional +1 bonus damage per damage die when subject to an effect that inflicts water damage. In addition, they suffer a -2 penalty to saves against effects with the water descriptor.

Alternate Racial Traits

  • Bangaan Lunge: Some Bangaa train themselves into being able to weaponize their whole bodies. Bangaa with this trait gains a natural slam attack that deals 1d8 + your Strength modifier points of bludgeoning damage. This is a primary natural attack. This trait replaces the natural pikeman racial trait.
  • Urbanite: Some Bangaa make a living on the bustling city streets. This makes Bangaa out to be savvy merchants and hagglers. Bangaa with this trait gains a +4 bonus on Diplomacy checks to bargain and haggle. This bonus also applies to Appraise checks when identifying manufactured gear. This trait replaces the desert dwellers racial trait.
  • Game Hunters: Bangaa are natural bounty hunters and huntsmen. Bangaa with this trait gains the Dedicated Adversary or Enemy Organization feat as a bonus feat. During daily preparations, the Bangaa can take 1 hour to change their favored enemy (as per the feat, can swap between both feats) for the day. This trait replaces the tough as scales racial trait.
  • Blinded Wanderers: Some Bangaa choose to challenge themselves or go through a rite of passage. These Bangaa often have blindfolds or a permanent injury of some kind afflicted to their eyes, afflicting them with the Blinded condition permanently. However, Bangaa with this trait gain the Scent monster ability and the Blind-Fight feat as a bonus feat. In addition, Perception is always a class skill for these Bangaa. This trait replaces the Keen Senses and tough as scales racial traits.

Favoured Class Bonuses

Beastmaster: Add +1/2 to handle animal checks related to reptilian creatures.
Black Belt: Add +1/2 to the amount of damage the black belt’s delayed damage pool can hold.
Dark Knight: Lose +1/3 fewer hit points when using darkside, to a minimum of 1 point per die rolled.
Knight: Add +1/4 DR /- when taking damage in place of an ally.
Monk: Gain +1/6 of a bonus style feat or wildcard slot. The monk does not need to meet the prerequisites for this style feat.
Samurai: Add +1/3 to their attack modifier when using shirahadori.
Warrior: Add +1/4 to the warrior’s effective level to determine their chosen weapon bonus. This bonus only applies if Spears are chosen as the warrior’s chosen weapon group.
