© Square Enix, Final Fantasy XIV

The Roegadyn are a maritime people whose largest concentrations are found in the northern seas and mountainous valleys. They have enormous, muscular builds, and their culture emphasizes competition and unflinching courage, although tender, introspective individuals are also found in their midst.
Female Roegadyn have fierce faces and large muscular builds, not unlike their male kin, but they are sleeker. They are not as massive as male Roegadyn, and are a little shorter than their male counterparts. Female Sea Wolf Roegadyn have fair skin (even more so than males) and are slim compared to Hellsguard women, while the latter have more robust physiques and brownish skin compared to male Hellsguard.

Roegadyn often hail from 3 main tribes: The Sea Wolves, Hellsguard, and Othardian tribes (see Subraces below). However, there have been Roegadyns from outlying clans that do not belong to these main three. They vary and differ by region.

Size: Roegadyns are Medium creatures and thus receive no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Type: Roegadyns are Humanoid creatures.
Base Speed: Roegadyns have a base speed of 30 feet

Defense Racial Traits

Naturally Resistant: Roegadyns receive a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against poison, spells, and spell-like abilities.

Powerful Build: The physical stature of roegadyns lets them function in many ways as if they were one size category larger. Whenever a roegadyn is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for a Combat Maneuver Bonus or Combat Maneuver Defense (such as during grapple checks, bull rush attempts, and trip attempts), the roegadyn is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to him.A roegadyn is also considered to be one size larger when determining whether a creature’s special attacks based on size (such as grab or swallow whole) can affect him. The benefits of this racial trait doesn’t stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that change the subject’s size category.

Heavy Weapons: Although they still take the normal -2 penalty for doing so, roegadyn can use weapons designed for a creature one size category larger than themselves without increasing the amount of effort it takes (Roegadyn can use large two-handed weapons). Weapons that require a specific ability score to avoid a penalty on the attack roll (Such as a butchering axe or split blade sword) cannot be wielded this way.

Stability: Roegadyns receive a +4 bonus to their combat maneuver defense when resisting a trip or bull rush attempt while standing on the ground.

Feat and Skill Racial Traits

Large and In Charge: Roegadyns are intimidating without trying. They gain a +2 racial bonus to Intimidate

Offensive Racial Traits

Second Wind: Roegadyns that are reduced to half their hit points or fewer and have no conscious ally within 30 feet, they gain a +2 racial bonus on melee attack rolls and to Armor Class.

Senses Racial Traits

Low-Light Vision: Roegadyns have low-light vision allowing them to see twice as far as humes in dim light.

Alternate Racial Traits

Battle-Hardened: Incessant drills make defense second nature to some roegadyns. Roegadyns with this racial trait gain a +1 bonus to CMD. This racial trait replaces stability.

Ferocity: Once per day, when a roegadyn is brought below 0 hit points but not killed, he can fight on for1 more round as if disabled. At the end of his next turn, unless brought to above 0 hit points, he immediately falls unconscious and begins dying. This racial trait replaces second wind.

Sea Legs: Many roegadyns find their way onto the water early in their youth, whether they live with trader families, work as smugglers, or plunder alongside pirates. These roegadyns receive a +2 racial bonus on Swim checks, as well as a +4 racial bonus on Acrobatics checks to move on narrow or slippery surfaces, and on Climb checks on docks and ships. This racial trait replaces large and in charge.

Stoic: Some roegadyns learn to suppress their strong emotions. They don’t usually gain morale bonuses, but instead gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against emotion and fear effects, and the DC to intimidate them increases by 2. They can choose to gain morale bonuses when they would normally be able to do so, but if they do, they lose the benefits from this racial trait for 24 hours. This racial trait replaces large and in charge.

Subraces

Sea Wolves

The Sea Wolves hail from the islands of the far north seas, where they subsist as fishermen and -women. Long ago, no vessel or coastal village was safe from their maritime brand of brutality. Now, it is not uncommon to see them employed as sailors or naval mercenaries on all manner of vessels.

In modern times, they make up a substantial portion of the population of Limsa Lominsa, nearly tying with Midlander Hyur as the largest demographic. The city has been substantially influenced by their culture and in many significant ways, Limsa is a "Sea Wolf town".

Ability Score Increase: Sea Wolves gain a +2 to Strength, +2 to Wisdom and -2 to Charisma

Sailor’s Life: Sea Wolves ignore all penalties from being on a moving ship or vessel. This trait replaces Stability.

Hellsguard

The Hellsguard are a clan of Roegadyn with body and mind tempered by the unforgiving heat of the volcanic regions they inhabit. Believing the mountains of flame to be gates to the underworld, their line has for centuries stood vigil over them to prevent the passage of souls back to the realm of the living. Their sheer girth and steely demeanor open a wide range of paths, from the martial to the monastic. As they hail from the volcanoes of Abalathia's Spine, the Hellsguard have no city to call their own (and many Hellsguard seem to like it that way). If they are to be found in number in any city-state, it is in Ul'dah where there is no shortage of the sort of sell-sword work that many wandering Hellsguard engage in—and no shortage of coin with which to pay them

Ability Score Increase: Hellsguard gain a +2 to Constitution, +2 to Charisma and -2 to Dexterity

Heat Resistance: Hellsguard are immune to the effects of high temperatures, and gain Fire Resistance 5. This replaces Stability.

Othardian

Roegadyn native to the continent of Othard differ greatly from their western cousins. While retaining their massive stature and build, Othardian Roegadyn have skin tones similar to a Hyur, and lack the flattened nose of other Roegadyn. Othardian Roegadyn thus look like oversized Hyurs.

Ability Score Increase: Upon creation, a Othardian Roegadyn chooses one attribute to receive a +2 bonus to.

Hyurian Visage: Othardian Roegadyn gain a +5 racial bonus to Disguise to appear as human, and always have Disguise as a class skill. This replaces Stability.

Favoured Class Bonuses

Beastmaster: Add +1/2 to handle animal checks against medium or smaller animals or magical beasts.
Black Belt: Add +1/4 to the black belt's effective level to determine his unarmed strike damage. (2d10 increases to 3d8. This does not stack with the heavy handed talent.)
Dark Knight: Add an additional +1/2 point to the damage dealt by destroy.
Knight: Add +1 foot to the knight’s reach when using defend ally. This has an effect only for every five increases to the knight’s reach.
Samurai: Add +1/2 point to the samurai’s bushido points.
Warrior: Add +1 to the number of rounds the warrior can advance per day.
