Some White mages believe that the best form of healing is to prevent damage before it even happens. These mages, known as shield mages, are experts at protecting multiple people over longer time periods with white magics.
Shield mage is an archetype of White Mage
Overshield (Su)
Whenever the shield mage casts a spell that increases any form of AC, they may spend MP equal to the spell's base cost to target a second ally within 10 feet of the first with the same spell. (This is not considered part of the spell's cost and thus can be used regardless of how much MP is spent on the original spell.)
This ability replaces overheal
Opal Barrier (Su)
The shield mage, at 7th level, whenever they cast a spell that increases any form of AC, spend the same amount of Aetherial MP equal to the spell’s base cost, to have the spells duration increase to 1 hour/level. If the shield mage uses overshield, they can use opal Barrier on both targets by spending twice.
This ability replaces opaline panacea.
Shifting Protection (Su)
At 11th level, whenever the shield mage casts a spell that grants an armour bonus, deflection bonus or enhancement bonus to natural armour, they can spend aetherial MP equal to the spell's base cost to change the bonus to one of the other two types. For example, they can use Shifting Protection and Mage Armour to provide both an armour bonus and a deflection bonus on themselves in seperate castings.
This ability replaces twinheal.
Shield Mastery
At 20th level, the shield mage may apply Opal Barrier to all spells that apply a bonus to AC he casts for free. Additionally, the shield mage may cast spells that provide a bonus to AC using his Aetherial MP as if it was normal MP without having to move it.
This ability replaces opal mastery.
