Dragon Talents
When using Dragon Talents, only one may be used to adjust Lancet at a time. Talents subject to this rule are marked by a *.
Wyrmkiller: Whenever a dragoon uses Gungnir or Jump against a creature with the Dragon or Reptile Subtypes, the bonus damage from either ability increases in die size by 1 step (from 1d4 to 1d6). In addition, when a dragoon succeeds on a Reflex save, he may make an Acrobatics (jump) check as a free action to reposition himself towards or away from the source of the effect. He may travel no more than half his base land speed, despite the result of his check. This movement is subtracted from total movement allotted to the dragoon on his next turn.
Improved Evasion: This works like evasion, except that while the dragoon still takes no damage on a successful Reflex saving throw against attacks, they henceforth take only half damage on a failed save. A helpless dragoon does not gain the benefit of improved evasion.
Prerequisite: Dragoon 12
Dragon Dive: As part of using Jump, once per round, the Dragoon can choose to take the extra damage granted to themselves, to extend the additional damage given by Jump to all creatures within 10 feet of the targeted creature, with a Reflex save (DC 10 + focus modifier + ½ dragoon level) to half. The Dragoon can make a fortitude save against the same DC to half their own damage.
Prerequisite: Dragoon 6
*Lancet Burst: As part of the action to use Lancet, the Dragoon can opt to deal 1d4 damage in place of 1d6, and deal the Lancet damage to all targets within 5 feet of the original target, not including the Dragoon itself. The primary target still must be hit with the attack, and all additional targets receive a Reflex save (DC 10 + focus modifier + ½ dragoon level) to half the damage. The damage from targets other than the primary does not heal the dragoon at all.
*Lancet Extradition: As part of the action to use Lancet, instead of gaining the secondary effect themselves, the Dragoon can transfer it to an ally within 30 feet of the dragoon. An ally cannot benefit from this talent again until 1d4+1 rounds have passed.
*Lancet Reach: As part of the action to use Lancet, the Dragoon can opt to deal 1d4 damage in place of 1d6, and increase their reach with that weapon by 5ft for that attack.
*Lancet Rending: Instead of gaining the secondary benefit, the Dragoon can opt to remove 1 point of natural armor per Lancet die from the target, for a number of rounds equal to their focus modifier. Lancet Rending cannot stack with itself or any other effect that reduces natural armor.
*Lancet Salvage: If using Lancet during a sunder combat maneuver, the dragoon ignores hardness equal to their level, and can restore the HP of an item of their own instead of healing or restoring MP. The item in question must be an item they are wearing, wielding, or an item within reach of the dragoon.
Lancer's Prowess: A dragoon charging into battle is a telltale sign of death to his foes. Once per round, when a dragoon charges or Jump to a hostile creature in range, he may make an intimidate check to demoralize his foes before he lands as a free action. The Dragoon can make this intimidate check either before or after he reaches his target, affecting creatures within 30ft his starting position or affecting creatures within 30ft of his target (Dragoon's choice). For each 5ft square between him and his target, that he successfully traverses, he gains a +1 circumstance bonus to the check to demoralize his opponent.
Prerequisites: Dragoon 6
Spear Master: The Dragoon gains Weapon Focus (Spear) or Weapon Focus (Polearm) as a bonus feat. In addition, he counts as having the weapon training class feature for the purposes of Weapon Mastery Feats, and uses his dragoon levels in place of any other class levels for this purpose alone.
Dance of the Whirling Dragon: The Dragoon may select one specific type of Spear or Polearm, such as a Longspear. They may their Dexterity modifier in place of their Strength modifier on attack rolls when using the specified type of weapon.
Prerequisite: Spear Master
Strike of the Whirling Dragon: The Dragoon may substitute their Strength to damage for Dexterity with their chosen weapon for Dance Of The Whirling Dragon, but cannot gain 1.5x for two-handing with this method, nor any other method that boosts Strength to Damage.
Prerequisite: Dance Of The Whirling Dragon
Steady Leap: When using Jump to perform a charge, the Dragoon may ignore penalties from high winds, inclement weather and difficult terrain by slippery surfaces, such as ice.
Ishgardian Landing Chant (Ex): The dragoons have used the chants of the victorious for ages. Whenever a Dragoon makes a successful Jump against a hostile creature, they may let out a valorous cheer. Allied Creatures within 30ft of where the dragoon lands that can see or hear the dragoon gain a +1 morale bonus to attack rolls and saves against fear effects for 1 round. The bonus and duration increase by +1 per four dragoon levels after 1st.
Coerthan Ambusher (Ex): The lancers of Coerthas have long trained to prioritize flying targets at a moment's notice. A dragoon with this talent gains a +2 bonus to Initiative checks if there are hostile flying creatures within Jump distance. This bonus is doubled if the dragoon starts Initiative upon a Higher elevation (a minimum of 5ft higher).
Ishgardian Tactics (Ex): The Dragoons of Ishgard have trained each member on how best to apply aerial maneuvers against flying and grounded foes alike. Choose one combat maneuver upon taking this talent. Whenever you perform a Jump or a charge while wielding a spear or Polearm, you may take a -4 penalty to the attack roll to temporarily count yourself as +1 size higher against your target. You cannot use this ability to gain size bonuses to your CMD or CMB, but can meet size Prerequisites in order to apply the effect of the maneuver to larger creatures.
Legs Of The Dragon (Ex): The Dragoon counts himself as being on the back of a charging mount for the purposes of dragon talents and for calculating the damage dealt with a lance while jumping as a charge attack.
Sideswipe Leap (Ex): Once per round, the dragoon may take a -2 penalty to an attack roll whilst using Jump, if successful compare the attack roll against the target’s CMD. If higher, the target is tripped.
Prerequisites: Legs Of The Dragon
Fiercest Charge (Ex): The Dragoon may utilize Vital Strike, and any feat with Vital Strike as a prerequisite, on the first attack in a charge boosted by Jump. This cannot be used in conjunction with Spirited Charge or similar feats.
Prerequisites: Dragoon 12, Sideswipe Leap, Legs Of The Dragon
Spirit Of The Dragon (Ex): The Dragoon gains Spirited Charge as a bonus feat, and can use it in tandem with the first attack boosted by Jump. This cannot be used in conjunction with Vital Strike or similar feats.
Prerequisites: Dragoon 12, Sideswipe Leap, Legs Of The Dragon
