Standing between the samurai and the gunner, the lonesome drifter is a gunfighter of quick wit and unmatched draw.
The Lonesome Drifter is an archetype for Samurai.
Weapon Proficiency
Lonesome drifters are proficient in all simple weapons and all light and one handed firearms.
Outdraw (Ex)
At 1st level, the lonesome drifter begins the life of the fast or the dead. The lonesome drifter gains the Quick Draw feat as a bonus feat. In addition, as part of rolling for initiative, the lonesome drifter may make a single attack action on a foe within 30 ft. Once this attack is complete, on the lonesome drifter's first turn, they are staggered.
This replaces Iaido.
Distracting Shot (Ex)
At 2nd level, a lonesome drifter knows the correct time to fire to throw their attacker off their aim. As an immediate action, when an enemy makes a melee or ranged attack against you or an ally within 15ft you can initiate this counter to oppose that attack by making an attack roll with a firearm you are holding. If your attack roll is higher than the incoming attack, the incoming attack gains a penalty of -5. If you would land a critical hit as part of this attack roll, the penalty is -10 instead. You can decide to use this ability after you learn the result of your opponent’s attack, doing so can change the result. Distracting shot also grants an additional point to your limit break gauge when it causes an attack to miss. This is doubled if you roll a natural 20 or critical threat that succeeds.
This replaces Shirahadori.
Quick Clear (Ex)
At 2nd level, the lonesome drifter may spend a standard action to remove the broken condition from a single firearm he is currently wielding, as long as that condition was gained by a firearm misfire. The lonesome drifter must have at least 1 bushido point to use this feature. Alternatively, if the lonesome drifter spends 1 bushido point to use this feature, he can perform quick clear as a move action instead of a standard action.
This replaces the 2nd level bushido art, the lonesome drifter gains their first bushido art at level 4.
Gun Training (Ex)
Starting at 4th level, a lonesome drifter can select one specific type of firearm (such as buntline or heavy revolver). He gains a bonus equal to his Dexterity modifier on damage rolls when firing that type of firearm. Furthermore, when he misfires with that type of firearm, the misfire value of that firearm increases by 2 instead of 4.
At 8th level and every four levels thereafter, the lonesome drifter picks up another type of firearm, gaining these bonuses for those types as well.
This replaces Blade and Body.
Distracting Gutshot (Ex)
At 7th level, when the lonesome drifter uses Distracting Shot, he may make the incoming attacker instead provoke an attack of opportunity from him. If the attack of opportunity hits, deal normal weapon damage and double the normal penalty to attack from Distracting Shot.
This replaces Retaliate.
Iaido: Ricochet (Ex)
At 9th level, the lonesome drifter’s Iai techniques allow them the ability to make seemingly impossible shots. When the lonesome drifter makes an Iai Strike with a firearm, they select a surface within his first range increment and line of effect. The attack is considered to be originating from that surface for every purpose besides concealment and range increment, however, the attack roll takes a -2 penalty.
This replaces Iaido: Iainuki.
Covering Fire (Ex)
At 12th level, the lonesome drifter’s defensive instincts reach impressive heights. The lonesome drifter may use Distracting Shot by spending an attack of opportunity instead of an immediate action. Each subsequent use of Distracting Shot after the first in a round imposes a cumulative -1 penalty to the attempt. In addition, the creature that was attacked to use Distracting Shot gains a +1 dodge bonus to AC until the end of the lonesome drifter’s next turn when Distracting Shot successfully makes an attack miss. The dodge bonus may stack with itself if more successful Distracting Shots are used.
This replaces Blocking Cuts.
Iaido: Piercer (Ex)
At 13th level, the lonesome drifter’s shot pierces straight through the most stalwart of defenses. As a full round action, the lonesome drifter can make a Iai Strike at no penalty. When performed in this way, the damage result ignores an amount of damage reduction equal to 1/4th his Samurai level on a successful hit. In addition, one creature within a 15 ft cone of the target facing away from the origin of the attack must roll a Reflex save or also be hit for normal damage.
This replaces Unstoppable Iaijutsu.
Disrupting Shot (Ex)
At 14th level, the lonesome drifter’s shots begin to warp the minds of arcanists. When the lonesome drifter successfully makes a magical attack miss using Distracting Shot, the enemy afflicted must roll a Will save. On a failure, spells cast by that creature have a 20 percent failure chance for a number of rounds equal to the lonesome drifter’s Focus modifier.
This replaces Darkmoon.
Just Deliverance (Ex)
Deliverance can instead target one enemy creature within 15 ft.
This alters Deliverance.
Itchy Trigger Finger (Ex)
At 17th level, the lonesome drifter’s instincts are tight as a drum. He increases the number of attacks of opportunity he can make by half his Focus modifier. This stacks with other feats and features that increase the amount of attacks of opportunity he can make.
This replaces Eclipse.
