In the cold wintry climates of the Eternian mountains, fencers and samurai clashed for generations. Eventually, a unique style incorporating both aspects of sword combat arose, then the world became fearful of the Eternian duelist.

Eternian Duelist is an archetype for Samurai.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency

Eternian duelists are proficient in all simple weapons, katanas, rapiers, and dueling swords. They are proficient in light armor and no shields.

This alters proficiencies.

Limit Break (Su)

Instead of Shin-Zantetsu, the Eternian duelist gains the following:

Moonshadow (Ex): The songs of duelists of old swell into reality as the Eternian duelist performs a powerful swing. As a standard action, make a single melee attack with a weapon you hold. This attack roll does not automatically miss on a 1. If the attack hits, deal normal damage + the number of stacks consumed. For a number of rounds equal to your Focus modifier, whenever an ally within close range of you would deal physical damage, they deal an additional amount equal to the number of stacks spent performing this limit break.

Fine Practice (Ex)

For the purposes of samurai features not modified by this archetype, the Eternian duelist treats the samurai weapon group as if it only contained the rapier, katana, and dueling sword by default.

Elegant Fighter (Ex)

Starting at 2nd level, instead of selecting a bushido art, the Eternian duelist may gain access to a single Duelist Red Mage deed of her samurai level or lower, treating her samurai level as her red mage level and her bushido pool as her arcane pool.

This alters Bushido Arts.

Defensive Parry (Ex)

At 3rd level, when an Eternian duelist makes a full attack with a weapon in the samurai weapon group, she gains a +1 shield bonus to her AC against melee attacks until the beginning of her next turn. This bonus increases to +2 at 7th level, +3 at 11th level, +4 at 15th level, and +5 at 19th level.

This replaces armored flexibility.

Iaido: Riposte (Ex)

At 9th level, whenever the Eternian duelist would make an attack of opportunity, she may make it as an iai strike. In addition, as long as they have 1 bushido point, they may use Retaliate after any ability that stops an attack with an attack roll.

This replaces Iaido: Iainuki.
