DESCRIPTION
Traders and merchants from far off lands needed a more expedient, even if costly, way to return home after a long tour. This spell was crafted by a wayfaring mage who was hired to facilitate the return of a merchant prince - whose financial escapades threatened to embarasses his family.
Choose 1 settlement you know and are familiar with on your current plane of existence. You must have left a possession or marking somewhere within the settlement’s vicinity to use as a tether. The possession or marking must have a faint trace of your magic instilled within (such as an item you crafted or the use of the Arcane Mark cantrip). As you cast the spell, space warps and bends for the duration of the casting time until you are teleported to your chosen destination. The caster is always able to teleport to their chosen destination, regardless of distance, so long as they are on the same plane of existence.
This spell cannot be used to return to a different plane of existence nor does it count as planar travel for the purposes of feats and prerequisites. This spell teleports the caster, all of their worn or held gear with them to their target destination. Ongoing effects, such as spells, statuses, and conditions persist even after the caster is finished casting. This spell does not bring any creatures other than the caster, unless that creature is magically bound to the caster (such as a familiar or summoned creature). In such a case, the return spell will only bring a single such creature if they are within 10ft of the castier at the end of the spell, regardless of their size.
Passive Augment:
Greater Return (12 MP): The caster can now bring up to 5 medium-sized creatures within 10ft of the caster along with them.
Perfected Return (14 MP): The caster can now any amount of creatures, up to a size category of Large, along with them if they are within 30ft of the caster before the end of the casting time.
