In the streets of Tokyo-to, one of the hottest things are the punks wearing inline skates, covering the city with their personal graffiti, and listening to a popular radio station pumping nonstop hardcore music. However, with Tokyo-to’s police cracking down on them, the radio punks decided it was time to start scratchin’.

Radio Punk is a pop culture archetype of Bard, inspired by Jet Set Radio.

Graffiti is Art

A radio punk’s connection with paint is on an instinctive level. They may use their Charisma modifier for Craft (paintings) (and Artistry (painting), if using the background skills optional system) checks instead of their Intelligence modifier.

Funky Rhythm (Su)

Radio punks, not being performance artists primarily, have a different method of attuning to Rhythm. Paint may not have the immediacy of a heartfelt speech or a power chord, but its long lasting nature allows it a wider audience.

The radio punk may not perform songs normally, instead the radio punk can place a tag anywhere within reach, selecting a song they know as they do. At the start of the radio punk’s turn, any creature within five feet of their tag gets the effects of the song selected. Tags last a number of rounds equal to the radio punk’s Charisma modifier, and placing a tag is considered performing the song. Songs with listed durations equal to the radio punk’s Charisma modifier only activate once. Songs that summon creatures summon them at the spot the radio punk painted, but can otherwise leave the area as normal. Somatic components must be fulfilled with a painting tool instead of an instrument.

This modifies Rhythm.

Jet Set Bardio

At 1st level, radio punks must choose Jet Set Bardio, a college of performance exclusive to this archetype.

This modifies College of Performance.

Jet Set Bardio

Listeners of Jet Set Bardio let the music they listen to set them free in a very real way.

Radio punks are considered The Black Mages bards for the purposes of bonus songs.

Associated Skill: Craft (Paintings) or Artistry (Painting)

At 1st level, a radio punk is considered to be constantly under the effects of a non-magical Skate spell while wearing light or no armor. In addition, the radio punk may expend a point of tempo to move horizontally across vertical surfaces for 1 round. The radio punk must end their movement for the round on solid ground or they fall prone.

At 9th level, as a full round action, a radio punk may move their speed and place a tag at any point during their movement. At 17th level, they may instead move twice their speed.

Versatile Art (Ex)

At 2nd level, the radio punk may select Craft (Paintings) (or Artistry (Painting), if using the background skills optional system) instead of a Perform skill for Versatile Performance. The associated skills for both are Escape Artist and Diplomacy.

This alters Versatile Performance.

Let’s Look at the Funk (Ex)

At 7th level, the radio punk’s funky energy can be felt from far away. When applying Battle Tempo, the radio punk may apply it to one ally within the affected area of a tag.

This ability replaces Let’s Put on a Show.

Layered Meaning (Su)

At 11th level, the radio punk learns how to get multiple messages across, even if only subconsciously. When placing a tag, they may instead select two bard songs they know. Both song effects get placed on creatures within ten feet of the tag at the start of the radio punk’s turn.

This replaces Ear-Shredding Ballad.

Complex Meaning (Su)

At 19th level, the radio punk’s skill with paint is strong enough to gather immediate reactions. When placing a tag, the radio punk may select three songs they know. All three song effects get placed on creatures within 15 feet of the tag at the start of the radio punk’s turn.

This replaces A Killer Show.
