Be it a pick, a spade, or any utensil favored by the peasantry, the battle engineer wields them with deadly efficiency. These cantankerous grease monkeys can make a screwdriver be as deadly as a starkknife and a crowbar as a mace. Even a lugnut can be used as shuriken.
The Battle Engineer is an archetype of the Machinist.

Rough and Sturdy

Makeshift Tools (Ex)
At 1st level, the battle engineer never suffers a penalty from using tools from a tool kit as an improvised weapon. In addition, a battle engineer can spend 1 charge of battery as a free action to treat any tool he holds as a simple weapon of his choice as appropriate for the tool. This benefit lasts for 1 minute. A battle engineer uses their machinist level in place of their base attack bonus when making attack rolls using improvised weapons, tools, and combat tools. If a improvised weapon is made into a simple weapon by class features, it still gains this bonus. This ability counts as having the Catch Off-Guard feat for the purposes of meeting prerequisites.
At 4th level, the battle engineer can spend 3 charges of battery as a free action to treat a tool as an appropriate martial weapon. The battle engineer is proficient with the weapon for the duration of this ability.
This ability replaces technical support and the gadget gained at 4th level.

This ability replaces eye for design.
Armor Training (Ex)
Starting at 3rd level, a battle engineer learns to be more maneuverable while wearing armor. Whenever he is wearing armor, he reduces the armor check penalty by 1 (to a minimum of 0) and increases the maximum Dexterity bonus allowed by his armor by 1. Every four levels thereafter (7th, 11th, and 15th), these bonuses increase by +1 each time, to a maximum –4 reduction of the armor check penalty and a +4 increase of the maximum Dexterity bonus allowed.
This ability replaces salvage expert.
Well-Provisioned Defense (Ex)
At 4th level, so long as the battle engineer can draw a tool, he can use it as an improvised defense against an opponent’s onslaught. All masterwork tools the battle engineer wields as improvised or as proper weapons with his Makeshift Tools ability receive a +1 enhancement bonus to attack and damage rolls. This bonus increases by 1 at 8th level, 12th level and every 4 levels thereafter; his combat tools also receive this bonus. In addition, battle engineer also receives a circumstance bonus to his CMD equal to the bonus to skill checks from his tools. This ability counts as having the warrior’s weapon training ability.
This ability replaces item lore.
Big Brawl (Ex)
The battle engineer’s reflexes kick into high gear as he becomes a vortex of cuts, blugeons and stabs. The battle engineer receives the Storm of Blades feat as a bonus feat without needing to meet the prerequisites. The battle engineer treats his machinist level as his base attack bonus for the purposes of using this feat. A battle engineer can perform a storm of blades with melee improvised weapons or combat tool of any damage type. A battle engineer may substitute his Intelligence bonus in place of Strength or Dexterity if it would be greater.
This ability replaces breaksight.
