“Heh, another new recruit eh? Alright, welcome to Vashok. Now, tell me, what brings ya here?”
Hello and welcome to the Ostium Character Creation Rules! If you’re here, you’re more than likely a fresh player starting for the first time, or a veteran of the server on their second or third character. Either way, these rules will be set out in a step by step layout to make it as easy as possible
Step One - Basic Information
“This land works on the powers of ancient heroes, villains and all inbetween, which you all embody in one way or another. Tell me whom you resemble”
Ostium is a PathFinal Fantasy server. Knowledge of the final fantasy series is not needed but is a great aid. Ostium itself is a unique setting detached from the main final fantasy lores.
Unless otherwise specified, everything from this site is a legal option. A section will denote banned archetypes, classes, features or other important information. You can use everything first party, bar classes and races from here as well, especially things like equipment and magic items.
Stats will be a set point buy for all characters, using a 25 point buy. Bonus HP as specified here is used for all characters and companions gained from class features.
To create your sheet, there are two options. Mythweavers or the Google Sheet. Both are viable options, and it is down to user preference.
Step Two - Picking a Class
“So, that's where your talents lie. Aright, I think we can make use of ya!”
Characters begin at level 1, and thus, pick one class to begin with. These must be picked from the site you are currently browsing.
The following classes and archetypes are banned:
None yet!
Hit die are calculated at max for level 1, and max-2 for every level afterwards. This applies to any companions granted by class features
Step Three - Races
"Where you from, anyhow?"
Races are to be selected from the website you are currently browsing. Alternate race features and heritages are all legal unless noted.
Banned Races:
None yet
A character’s age must be of adult age for their race. We do not use the bonuses/penalties for age, either.
Step Four - Equipment
“How long you been walking around in that pile of rust? You could really do with an upgrade. Let's get you situated.”
All players start with 250 Gil and an outfit worth 10 Gil or less.
Anything less than 1 gold from the d20pfsrd costs 1 Gil. We do not use smaller or larger denominations if purchasing a kit which contains multiple items, list the kit as one item rather than everything individually with the weight and cost of the kit rather than individual parts
Step Five - Extra Rules
Characters are given two traits, chosen by the player. If the player wants to take a drawback to gain a third trait, they can.
*Restricted Traits*
The following traits are restricted, but a player may apply for these traits through the Minor Approval channel. It is best to have a back up option otherwise.
Campaign (Base PF)
Regional (Base PF)
Faith (Base PF)
Religion (Base PF)
Pathfinder Society requirement
*Banned Traits:*
Rich Parents
Signature Moves
Anything that gives money to start with
*Banned Drawbacks:*
Umbral Unmasking
*Banned Equipment:*
Butchering Axe
*Banned Craftables:*
Trompe L'oeil
We utilise the Background Skills system, thus all players gain 2 extra skill points per level. Please note where these specific skills go.
Signature Skill system and the appropriate feat are both allowed
Addendum 1 - House Rules
“We got our own bylaws around here. Listen up.”
No interaction between your own characters when extra slots are unlocked
PvP is allowed. With the following conditions:
Admin oversight (or a gm not in training)
Non-lethal ONLY
BOTH or ALL participants need to agree
You will not gain XP from this.
Out Of Character Test fights are allowed without oversight, but make it clear they are not in character.
Making a clarification that player minions/animal companions/familiars/summons will act on the player's turn, and is entirely the player's responsibility to plan ahead the actions to be done. Animal companions still function via the Tricks system under Handle Animal.
Getting Involved
You will begin your journey at Vashok Garden, called there by a man named Cid Valentia. Ostensibly to become part of an army that will one day prevent a tragedy, but maybe the idea of an adventurer's city state is too interesting to pass up.
