At home atop their mighty steed, Wing Knights are a rare breed who take to battle atop combat-trained Chocobos, spear and shield in hand
Wing Knight is an archetype for Knight
Chocobo Mount
Wing Knights gain a Chocobo Knight companion, as the Chocobo Knight Archetype, using their Wing Knight level in place of Chocobo Knight.
The Wing Knight’s Hit Dice is reduced from D12 to D10.
This replaces Defensive Stance and modifies Hit Dice.
Challenge (Ex)
Once per day, a wing knight can challenge a foe to combat. As a swift action, the wing knight chooses one target within sight to challenge. The wing knight’s melee attacks deal extra damage whenever the attacks are made against the target of his challenge. This extra damage is equal to the wing knight’s level. The wing knight can use this ability once per day at 1st level, plus one additional time per day at 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th level, for a total of 5 times per day. Challenging a foe requires much of the wing knight’s concentration. The wing knight takes a –2 penalty to his Armor Class, except against attacks made by the target of his challenge. The challenge remains in effect until the target is dead or unconscious or until the combat ends.
This replaces Defend Ally
In or Out of the Saddle (Ex)
At 1st level, a Wing Knight gains Mounted Combat as a bonus feat.
This replaces Antagonistic
Stubborn Barding
At 2nd level, The Wing knight is unwavering once he is atop his steed. The Wing knight gains a +1 bonus to his combat maneuver defense and saves that attempt to remove him from his mount. This bonus increases by +1 per four knight levels after 2nd.
This replaces Stubborn Footing
Mounted Talents
In place of a Knight Talent at 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th or 20th, the Wing Knight may take a Training Regime from Beastmaster, applying it to their Chocobo.
This may replace the Knight Talents at 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, 20th
Relentless Steed (Ex)
At 8th level, a wing knight’s mount does not reduce its speed when wearing medium or heavy barding or carrying a heavy load. The wing knight may also reroll a Ride skill check or a saving throw made by the mount once per day, but must use the second roll even if it is worse.
This replaces Rescue!
Greater Charge (Ex)
At 11th level, a wing knight learns to make devastating charge attacks while mounted. Double the threat range of any weapons wielded during a charge while mounted. This increase does not stack with other effects that increase the threat range of the weapon. In addition, the wing knight can make a free bull rush, disarm, sunder, or trip attempt if his charge attack is successful. This does not provoke an attack of opportunity.
This replaces Greater Defensive Stance
Reflexive Patrol
At 12th level, The Wing Knight gains Combat Patrol as a bonus feat, and may use his mount’s movement during it. If the Wing Knight already has Combat Patrol, he may gain another combat feat he meets the prerequisites for. The Wing Knight also gains +1 attack of opportunity per round, which stacks with Combat Reflexes
This replaces Defensive Reflexes
Unavoidable Onslaught (Ex)
At 13th level, a chocobo knight’s mounted charge is not blocked by friendly creatures.
This replaces Group Rescue!
Mountguard (Ex)
At 14th level, when the wing knight is mounted, spells that target the mount with touch or ranged touch attacks, have the mount’s touch AC increased by ¼ of the Wing Knight’s level as a deflection bonus.
This replaces Mageguard
Tireless Ride
At 17th level, the Wing Knight and his mount both become immune to fatigue caused by long periods of physical activity such as marching.
This replaces Tireless Stance
