In the dramatic times of plague and disaster, one must play the role of the surgeon to restore peace. However, one can’t expect miracles to occur for free. The Haruspex is the type of performer to take the desperate actions needed during desperate times.
The haruspex is a pop culture archetype of the Chemist, based on Pathologic.
Limited Supply (Ex)
The haruspex can perform a mix a number of times equal to a fourth his chemist level plus his intelligence modifier.
This alters Mix.
Extra Supply (Ex)
When performing a coup de grace, the haruspex gains a temporary use of Mix that lasts until the end of the day. In addition, the haruspex may perform coups de grace against creatures that have been dead for a number of rounds equal to his Intelligence modifier at most as a swift action. The haruspex can only gain the effects of extra supply once per creature.
Surgical Bloodletting (Ex)
The haruspex’s skill with anatomy proves helpful when his opponents are distracted.
The haruspex’s melee attack deals additional bleed damage anytime his target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the haruspex flanks his target. This extra damage is 1d4 at 1st level, and increases by 1d4 every 2 chemist levels thereafter. This additional damage is not multiplied on a critical hit.
This replaces Bomb, for the purposes of Mixes that use Bomb damage, use your surgical bloodletting dice.
Anatomical Expertise (Ex)
The haruspex may use his Intelligence modifier for Heal checks instead of his Wisdom modifier. In addition, when successfully using the Heal skill to treat disease or poison, you give a competence bonus equal to 4 + your Intelligence modifier instead.
This replaces Throwing Practice.
Surgeon’s Touch (Ex)
At 4th level, Mixes the haruspex makes with the Pixie Wing reagent use 1d6 for each surgical bloodletting die.
This replaces the 4th-level Breakthrough.
Practiced Surgeon (Ex)
At 6th level, the haruspex gains Signature Skill (Heal) as a bonus feat. In addition, he may use a Mix instead of two uses of a healer’s kit to treat deadly wounds.
This replaces the 6th-level Researcher’s Expertise.
Infectious Cuts (Ex)
At 8th level, when dealing surgical bloodletting damage, the haruspex may expend a Mix to deal an additional 2d6 Poison damage every round for a number of rounds equal to the haruspex’s intelligence modifier. Multiple uses of Infectious Cuts do not stack.
This replaces Bombard.
Esoteric Anatomy (Su)
At 15th level, the haruspex gains insight on dealing with foes of supernatural vitality. Whenever the haruspex deals bleed or poison damage, half of that damage is not affected by immunities or resistance. This does not apply to Poisoned or Sapped statutes caused by the haruspex.
This replaces Greater Bombard.
Master Surgeon (Ex)
At 20th level, the anatomical knowledge a haruspex possesses becomes perfected. Mixes using the Pixie Wing reagent use 1d8 for every surgical bloodletting die. In addition, when using extra supply, the haruspex gains two temporary uses of mix.
This replaces Master Chemist.
