While most beastmasters are happy with the mundane animals they find everywhere, the satchefam trainer will travel across the land searching far and wide to find beasts that can control the elements themselves!

Stachel Familiar Trainer is a Beastmaster archetype. NOTE: Although this archetype is very obviously based on Pokémon, Satchel Familiar Trainer is not attempting to replicate the mechanics of that series in functionality and thus can probably fit even in campaigns where all pop-culture content is banned.

Reduced Training

Satchel Familiar Trainers are less used to being the ones attacked, and thus reduce their hit dice to a D8.

This replaces HD

Magical Menagerie (Su)

All creatures in the Satchel Familiar Trainers menagerie get to choose 1 element from the Mystic Knights list. Their attacks from this point forward do that element as PhysElement damage, in addition to any other types it has, or if ranged attacks like a spit, just that element. All beasts also gain the Elemental Grasp ability for their chosen element. At level 11, each beast may choose 2 elements.

Each monster also gains a weakness to whatever element their chosen element(s) are weak to, but resistance to whatever element their element would be strong against.

A Satchel Familiar Trainer starts with only one creature in their menagerie, and may not gain more, or replace this creature (unless it dies) until they gain the Variety feature

In addition to this, a Satchel Familiar Trainer may carry their full menagerie around in small balls which they may store anywhere on their person, though swapping out their beasts still requires 10 minutes and progresses as normal with beastmasters (so 5 minutes at 7, and an FRA at 16)

This alters menagerie, and replaces Animal Focus

Variety (Ex)

At level 3, the Satchel Familiar Trainer gains the Expanded Menagerie ability, and the amount of creatures they may hold in their menagerie increases by 1, increasing by 1 every 3 levels thereafter (still maxing at 6, but at level 15 instead of 20).

This alters Expanded Menagerie, and replaces Training Regimes up until level 15

Animal Focus

When a beastmaster would gain the second animal focus ability at level 8, the Satchel Familiar Trainer gains only a single animal focus

Special Bond (Ex)

At level 18, the Satchel Familiar Trainer may select one creature in their menagerie, this creature permanently gains the advanced monster template. This choice can only be swapped if the beast dies or is released.

This replaces the 18th level Training Regime

Legendary Beast (Ex)

At level 20, the next creature a Satchel Familiar Trainer adds to their menagerie becomes a “legendary” creature. They gain the advanced template, HD = to the Satchel Familiar Trainers level, a BAB of 15, an additional ability score increase, their fortitude and reflex base saves become a +12, while their will base save is +6, and they know two additional Bonus Tricks

This replaces Lord of the Wild
